Born in Reykjavík, Iceland, 1986, I was just your average city girl who liked horses, the movies and school. (Yebb, school…can you believe that?)
I was always drawing but was persuaded to pursue a more practical career, like medicine, just like daddy. However when I came out of college in 2006, a science major, I figured I needed time to think and, to use a popular phrase: “find myself”, I took off to Asia, with a backpack and along with my best friend we travelled around for about 5 months.
I came back in spring 2007 and the following autumn I enrolled in the Reykjavík School of Visual Art for a one year prep program. The following year I was accepted to the Iceland Academy of the Arts where I studied graphic design. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in May 2011.
In January 2010 I went to Edinburgh College of Art on an exchange, studying illustration. That was a great experience and I met a lot of great, fun and very talented people.
My work is versatile, my interests are many and I try to keep an open mind, and to try as many things as possible.
I’m still looking for a style of my own but like we say in Iceland, “það kemur með kalda vatninu” (“it comes with the cold water”)
